Private Tutoring
The Small School offers individualized tutoring for students in grades 4–12, whether they attend a public school, private school, homeschool, or another educational program. Our one-on-one sessions give students the time and attention to work through difficult material, strengthen skills, or go further in subjects they enjoy.

Tutoring might mean rebuilding confidence in math, working through a challenging piece of writing, preparing for an upcoming exam, catching up in a course, developing stronger study habits, or simply having the space to ask questions and think things through. Our tutors are experienced educators who take the time to understand the student in front of them. We adjust our approach to the way a student learns rather than expecting every student to learn the same way.

Some students need short-term support. Others benefit from meeting regularly throughout the school year. Either way, our aim is the same: to give students the support they need now while helping them become more confident and independent in their own learning. Currently, we offer individualized support in:
Mathematics and sciences
English and writing composition
History and the humanities
Study skills and organization
Academic writing and research
General coursework and homework support
Test and exam preparation
Independent studies and special interests

30-minute weekly sessions (4x per month)
For focused practice, foundational skills, and targeted support. Discover offers students a little extra guidance as they work through a particular challenge and build confidence in their abilities.
60-minute weekly sessions (4x per month)
Our core tutoring plan provides time for individualized instruction, guided practice, and thoughtful feedback. Develop is ideal for students who benefit from consistent support and a trusted relationship with their tutor.
90-minute weekly sessions (4x per month)
For sustained work with challenging material, writing projects, and complex coursework. Deepen gives students the time and space to explore ideas, strengthen understanding, and work toward greater independence.
Over the years we have privately tutored students from the following area-schools: Santa Fe Prep, New Mexico School for the Arts, Journey Montessori, Rio Grande School, Santa Fe School For the Arts and Sciences, St. Michael’s High School, and of course, many homeschoolers.
